Cádiz 1965. Flutist and saxophonist related to different music styles like flamenco, jazz, pop and classical music, Carmelo Muriel has been part of projects like: Antonio Toledo Cuarteto, Los Guapos, Los Trapecistas, Sasobongo Cuarteto, Ovo Septeto, Sonora Big Band, Toma Castaña, Big Band Flamenca de Rubem Dantas, Cai, etc., combining this activity with teaching in the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatory of music in Chiclana de la Frontera.

He has performed with Nono García, Piet Verbist, Juan Sainz, Carlos Villoslada, Pedro Cortejosa, Antonio Mesa, Javier Ruibal, Chano Domínguez, Jorge Pardo, Perico Sambeat, Joaquín Linera “Niño la Leo”, Samara Montañez, May Fernández, Paco Reyes, Juan Villar JR, Raúl Gálvez, Emilio Martín, Edu Gómez, Rubem Dantas, Ana González, Naomi Piazza, Carlos de la Herrán, Martín Ariza, Paco Lobo, Antonio Rodríguez, Pájaro, Leo Power, Nino Ruiz and a long list, including musicians from very different styles.

His last work “El jardín de las naranjas” (2009) consists of andalusian heritage compsitions like the pasodoble that titles the CD and composicions in a clear flamenco style, like the rondeña “Cerquita de una rondeña” and the soleá “El vino y la canela”, along with other more personal but in the context of flamenco fusion with other musics. The jazz lenguage is present in this record who also includes the string quartet sonority with Carmelo Muriel own arrangements.
